If you’re noticing fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, or just visible changes to your facial plumpness, you may be considering some type of cosmetic injection to help restore your youthful appearance.

Two very popular options are Botox and Xeomin. So, what’s the difference between Botox and Xeomin, and which one is better?

What Is Botox?

Botox is a neuromodulator made with botulinum toxin type A that is injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.

It targets the muscles in those areas and prevents them from contracting and causing facial lines to deepen and become more noticeable.

The effects of Botox are noticeable in about three to five days, with final results noticeable after about two weeks. These results typically last between three and four months. Results can be touched up to prolong results and keep those lines from coming back.

Okay, Then What Is Xeomin?

Xeomin is similar to Botox in that it uses the botulinum toxin, and it also works to target the muscles and prevent them from contracting as much. Xeomin, however, doesn’t have the added proteins that Botox has.

Xeomin results are noticeable within days and can last up to four months or longer. Treatment time is only about 20 minutes for each. There is no downtime associated with Botox or Xeomin treatments, so you’ll be able to get back to your daily life following treatment!

They Sound Very Similar, So What’s the Difference Between Botox and Xeomin?

The main difference between the two is that one has extra proteins and one doesn’t. There are a couple of other differences that might cause you to choose one over the other. Xeomin results are typically noticeable faster, but only by about one day.

Also, the storage of Xeomin is more simple for injectors, because it does not have to be refrigerated. Botox may be better for the area you wish to treat, while Xeomin may be the best choice for someone else.

Which Cosmetic Injection Is Right for Me?

Choosing between Botox and Xeomin is solely based on your choice, and a consultation with an injection specialist can help determine what is right for you.
